Food Sensitivities and Allergies - Nutrition & Diet Therapy

At D-Signed Nutrition, we provide personalized nutrition therapy for food allergies, food sensitivities, and food-related symptoms. Reactions to foods can show up not only as skin or digestive issues, but also as changes in energy, mood, sleep, or pain, so careful assessment is essential.

Our goal is to help clarify which reactions are likely IgE‑mediated allergies versus non–IgE or sensitivity-type responses, support gut and immune health, and create a sustainable eating plan that works in real life.

Symptoms and Concerns We Commonly See

Food-related reactions can vary widely and may include:

  • Skin symptoms such as rashes, hives, or eczema
  • Digestive issues including bloating, cramping, constipation, diarrhea, or reflux
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Brain fog, low energy, or fatigue
  • Muscle aches, joint pain, or generalized inflammation
  • Sleep changes (insomnia, restless sleep)
  • Mood changes such as irritability, anxiety, or low mood

Because these symptoms are non-specific and may have many causes, we look at the entire clinical picture, not just a single food or test result.

Comprehensive Assessment

Depending on your symptoms and history, there are several ways we may evaluate possible food reactions and related issues. Your assessment may include:

  • Detailed symptom and diet history, including timing, frequency, and severity of reactions
  • Review of medical history, medications, and any existing allergy or GI diagnoses
  • Discussion of prior testing (for example, skin prick or serum IgE testing ordered by your allergist) and how it relates to your current symptoms
  • Consideration of elimination and reintroduction trials when appropriate, using a structured, time‑limited approach rather than indefinite restriction
  • Identification of potential gut and immune contributors, such as intestinal permeability, dysbiosis, or co-existing conditions, that may be part of the bigger picture

When needed, we coordinate with your allergist, gastroenterologist, or primary care provider to ensure safety (especially for true food allergies).

Nutrition and Lifestyle Strategies

Your nutrition plan will be individualized based on your history, current symptoms, and daily life. It may include:

  • A structured elimination diet and guided reintroduction to help identify problematic foods while preserving as much variety and nutrition as possible
  • Longer-term avoidance of certain foods (such as gluten in celiac disease or true wheat allergy) when medically indicated
  • Emphasis on a nutrient-dense, whole-foods diet that supports gut integrity, immune balance, and overall health
  • Gut-supportive nutrition and targeted supplements when appropriate to help soothe and support the intestinal lining, microbiome, and digestion
  • Education on label reading, cross‑contamination, restaurant strategies, and practical meal planning so your plan is realistic and sustainable

We aim to avoid overly restrictive, long-term diets whenever possible and instead focus on identifying triggers, supporting healing, and safely expanding your food choices over time.

A Personalized, Functional Approach

Food allergies and sensitivities are rarely “just about the food.” They often intersect with stress, sleep, gut health, immune function, and environmental exposures. We take a root-cause–oriented, collaborative approach to help you understand what is happening in your body and build a plan that fits your medical needs, lifestyle, and preferences.

If you are experiencing symptoms you suspect are related to food and want a structured, evidence-informed approach to evaluating and managing them, we invite you to schedule a consultation.
